What If Everyone Is Searching for Beauty--Whether They Know It or Not?
Welcome to Week 2 of Five What-Ifs to Change Your Life, brought to you by Beauty Hunter Explores How to Do More of What You Love
Dear Beautiful Friends,

Welcome to Week 2 of Five What-Ifs to Change Your Life, brought to you by Beauty Hunter Explores: How to Do More of What You Love (Even When the World Seems a Hellscape). May 20 - June 10, Tuesdays, 12 - 1 pm PDT on Zoom. Details here.
This week’s What If contemplation prompt is:
What if everyone is searching for beauty?
You could expand that out to:
What if all living entities are constantly searching & reaching for Beauty experiences?—
(whether they know it or not)

Here are a few suggestions for how to play with this week’s What-If prompt:
Even if you don’t agree with the premise, or you’re doubting it, play Let’s Pretend, and see where the mind wanders. Here’s a magic wand for you to wave—OK, two! 🪄🪄
See how being open to the idea that every living entity is created to seek and experience Beauty works through your system.
Play and experiment with it. Driving or walking down the street, tell yourself That driver who honked at me wants beauty; the crying child in the cafe, also hell-bent on beauty. The yapping dog, the drooping cherry tree, the night sky, your crazy neighbor—all of them: GIVE ME BEAUTY!
Write the question on a piece of paper and tuck it in a back pocket as you move through the world. (I used to put poems in my bike shorts when I first did longer triathlon races; those days are well in the past.)
Open a notebook and do the most furious free-write response to What If Everyone Was Seeking Beauty, and see what comes.
Whether flickering or seething with dislike for a certain person(s), imagine all within the murk of pain, anger, and insecruity, this human—like you— carries an innate desire for Beauty. (The yearning is the wisdom to shed a sense of being a separate entity, and experience the truth of being part of Everything & Everything, aka Beauty.
Use this What If as a conversational prompt with friends, colleagues, family; at coffee, a dinner, or wherever you gather. Perhaps there’s a long pause in a conversation. Maybe you want a change of topic. If you feel shy, blame me. Say, “There’s this slightly crazy person who is suggestion _________. What do you think?”
What’s your prompt? Share in comments.
