Sunday Play Prescription: You're a Poet!

Dear Beautiful Friend,

Did you know you’re a poet? Yes you are! April is National Poetry Month. Let’s look at it as a celebration of human potential, expression and life.

So you might not think you’re a “poet” or you don’t “get poetry” but no no no no.

Because, yes yes yes yes, you are. This month, let’s be poets! (And acknowledge the amazing talent of the writing poets who connect our struggles and glories to the entire network of human experiences. Phew.)

First, a definition of “poet”:

a person possessing special powers of imagination or expression.

• If you’re an accountant, you’re a poet, possessing special powers of numerical imagination and expression.

• If you’re a 90-year-old great grandmother, you’re a poet, possessing special powers of longevity, and wisdom-of-living expression.

• If you’re down-on-your-luck, lonely, feeling alienated, you’re a poet because you, despite any thinking to the contrary, possess a powerful imagination and you’re own unique and universal form of expression.

  This Week’s Play Prescription
